1688 's-Hertogenbosch / Den Bosch

Quartae Partis | BRABANTIAE | seu Ditionis | SILVAE DUCIS | Accuratissima | DELINEATIO, Frederik de Wit (1688+)This map of the bailiwick of 's-Hertogenbosch was published by Frederik de Wit (1630-1706) based on the original publication by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638). The author of the original map was a not well known cartographer Willibrort van der Burght from Brabant. Van der Burght was commissioned in 1630 by the Council of State to produce a map of the recently conquered city of 's-Hertogenbosch and its surroundings. The original map has never been discovered but the copy was published by Blaeu in one of his atlases in 1634.
