Veue et perspective du Chateau et Jardin de Versailles, comme il est apresant, Willem Swidden (1683)This view on the castle and the gardens of Versailles was carried out by Willem Swidden (c. 1660-1697). Though occasionally Swidden made portaits and historical prints as well, he specialised in landscapes and garden prints. Commissioned by De Lespine, Swidden engraved a series of views of the famous gardens of Versailles between 1683 and 1684. A series of prints with the same subject published in Paris and engraved by Nicolas Perelle formed the source of inspiration for this series of prints.
