TYPVS | FRISIAE | ORIENTALIS, Guiljelm Blaeu (1630) The mathematician Ubbo Emmius (1547-1625) published an accurate map of Ost-Friesland in 1595. His map was copied many times over during the 17th century. This map was published in 1630 by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638). He used a copper plate that he had bought in 1629 from the inheritance of his competitor Jodocus Hondius II.
